If you enjoy being taken back down memory lane or ever owned a ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 or Amiga console, then you may just want a copy of this.
A recently funded Kickstarter campaign and project by graphic designer, Darren Wall, this book tells the story of the Sensible Software company – producers of games such as Parallax, Microprose Soccer and Wizball. The book covers title screens, sprites, game maps, typefaces and box art as well as a bounty of never-before-seen archival material including hand-drawn maps, characters and menus that show the first inklings of Sensible’s most famous games.
Heavy backers of the Kickstarter compaign also receive a heavyweight 12″ record which includes songs “Goalscoringsuperstarhero” from Sensible Soccer and “War” and “Narcissus (The Hill Theme)” from Cannon Fodder, plus an A1 personalised Giclée printed poster on fine art matte paper.
I’m really looking forward to more from Read-Only Memory (the publishing house behind this book who specialise in top quality art books on gaming history). I hope they document a few of my favourite games in future additions – some of the greats like Bomb Jack, Hawk Eye and Gun Smoke would be fantastic.
